Our aglime is also a registered organic input for use in organic farming. We are centrally located in Bellevue, Michigan, with easy truck access from Interstate 69 at exit 48.
In addition to aglime, we produce several crushed stone products which are generally used for road or parking lot base, sewer or railroad ballast, landscaping, erosion control, and the stabilization of wet ground.

Agricultural Lime
Agricultural lime is used as a soil conditioner providing a base to correct soil acidity. The use of modern chemical fertilizers will increase acidity over time and result in the need to use more of them. In farming, applying aglime at the recommended rate based on soil testing will increase the ph level of acidic soil and improve the uptake of major plant nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Additional uses include spreading it throughout newly constructed properties before sod is laid down to improve lawn appearance.
The agricultural lime produced at Cheney Limestone Co., is very high in calcium so not only will you benefit from the increase in soil ph but it will also increase the level of calcium in the your soils. Many old-time farmers call our aglime "Stedman Lime" because we employ the use of a cage mill to mill our lime into very fine particles. Stedman is the manufacturer of the crusher that we use in this process and they became synonymous with fast-acting, well-milled aglime after they introduced their machinery in the late 1800's. Our aglime is also certified for use in organic farming. It is all natural with no additives and is registered with the State of Washington and tested routinely for quality and purity. Don't be fooled by low-cost competitors as many lime products are simply the waste products from water treatment facilities and they may contain high levels of heavy metals such as lead and mercury. They may also require higher application rates due to their lower neutralizing value, costing you more time and fuel to apply.
Driveway Chips
Our driveway chips, sometimes called limestone gravel, are made up of crushed limestone ranging in size from 1/8" to 7/8". They are used for driveways, parking lots, walking paths and many other places where a sound base is needed. This product is easy to shovel, making it ideal for use around fence posts, under paving brick, backfilling retaining walls, landscaping, or decorative areas. Once placed, it will pack well and provide a hard surface.
1 1/4" Chips
Our 1-1/4" chips actually vary in size from 7/8" to 1-1/4". Once again, this is made from 100% crushed limestone. It is typically used for the same purposes as our Driveway Chips but it is a cleaner product without the fine particles you would find in a gravel. This product does not pack down as well of as the driveway chips but it gives a cleaner look and is ideal for landscaping.
1x3 Chips
This product is very popular and has many uses. It varies in size from 1-1/4" to 3" and is made from 100% crushed limestone. It is often used for bedding underground pipe since it levels, supports, and protects the integrity of the pipe and is a great insulator. It is also used as a base product under our driveway chips or 1-1/4" material.
3x5 Chips
This is our largest crushed limestone product. It is used for soil erosion control and road base. This product is highly effective when used to stablize wet, muddy jobsites and as a base for roads in new construction sites, landfills, and oil wells.
